Planting the seeds for a career in mental health

High school students graduated a mentorship program that teaches about the mental health field and what it’s like to be a therapist. The Kaiser Permanente Northern California Mental Health Training Program recently graduated its second group of Dozier-Libbey Medical High School students from a 6-month mentorship exploring careers in mental health.

The virtual program also provides Kaiser Permanente mental health residents with valuable community outreach focused on improving the mental health of local communities.

This year’s 1-on-1 mentorship program grew to 15 students, up from 5 last year.

“This program blew all of my expectations out of the water,” said student Breanna Fumar, during a lunchtime ceremony at the Antioch school. “I really hope future students like my little sister go through it.”
