Sweet Tweets on MLK Day of Service 2017!

Volunteers helped the community on MLK Day, while also using social media to earn donations for three sites!

Kaiser Permanente physicians, employees, and their family members celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by volunteering at work sites throughout Northern California. While they repaired and beautified at nonprofit and school sites, they also competed in a “Twitter Challenge,” using their sites’ assigned hash tags to see which location sponsored by Kaiser Permanente Northern California Community Relations could earn the most Twitter impressions — resulting in donations of $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000 to the top 3 sites!

And the winners of the 2017 MLK Day Twitter Challenge are…

First Place:  #KPCares21, Dan O Root II Elementary School, Suisun
Second Place: #KPCares35, Volunteers of America Family Shelter, Sacramento
Third Place: #KPCares20, Vallejo High School, Vallejo

Tweets by Kaiser Permanente volunteers and supporters about the 21 participating projects received a total of 4.24 million impressions — almost 2 million more than last year’s challenge. In all there were more than 6,372 tweets, one-third more than last year! Congratulations, everyone!

  2. Very proud to work for an organization that walks the talk when it comes to improving our communities. My husband and 8-year-old are out helping to beautify Vallejo High School today, along with the Napa Solano team. Here’s to those volunteering, organizing, painting, and sweating today, all in the name of helping others. #KPCares20
