VISIONS Report Details Nursing Accomplishments

VISIONS, the 2017 Northern California Nursing Report, is now available online.

Last year saw many remarkable achievements for the more than 22,000 dedicated and skilled Kaiser Permanente nurses who work across the continuum in Northern California.

The continuum team piloted the Readmission Risk Score, and was able to reduce inpatient readmissions by more than 25 percent. Nurses’ contributions resulted in a significant reduction in time to diagnose and treat stroke patients, saving lives. And the Nurse Scholars Academy, which offers educational programs for nurses at all levels, celebrated its first 56 graduates, with 309 more scholars on their way to advancing their education.

Among these accomplishments and others, however, was the devastation of the North Bay wildfires in October. That disaster demanded — and was met by — the highest level of teamwork and flexibility as Kaiser Permanente nurses responded with compassion to patients and colleagues.

Read about these milestones from 2017 and many more in Visions, Nursing’s 2017 report.

  1. KP has a proud history of promoting nursing practice. Nurses have a strong history of innovation and contribution at KP. It’s so nice to see KP recognizing and acknowledging the widely touted role of nursing at KP in providing quality health care. MDs nor any role can carry out the Kaiser mission alone. Let’s hear it for the return to the traditional atmosphere of opportunity and collaboration that has been Ours!
