Kaiser Permanente opened its first Northern California multi-specialty medical hub in Dublin May 20, offering cancer treatment, specialty medical offices, 24-hour urgent care, surgery, and a variety of other services.
The new campus just off Interstate 580 at 3100 Dublin Blvd. will serve 140,000 Kaiser Permanente members — with room to grow — in the Tri-Valley communities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and Danville.
A May 11 open house to show off the much-anticipated medical campus drew 5,000 residents and Kaiser Permanente members from surrounding communities. A ribbon-cutting event was held May 13.
“Kaiser Permanente recognized that there was a need in the Tri-Valley for high-quality, convenient care, available to our members whether they work, live, or commute through the area,” said Janet Liang, president, Kaiser Permanente Northern California. “The way we deliver health care is changing, and we are proud to open this state-of-the-art building to serve this vibrant, growing community in new ways that benefit patients.”
Shifting Care from Hospitals
The new 226,000-square-foot multi-specialty care hub represents an increasing shift from hospitals to outpatient care, driven by advances in recovery science, new surgical procedures, and treatment therapies that allow patients to return home the same day as some surgeries are performed. About 500 employees and physicians will work at the new offices.
The 24-hour urgent care center has 30 treatment rooms in 12,985 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment. It has complete laboratory and extensive imaging services, a pharmacy, and onsite physicians. It is designed for recent non-emergency injuries or illnesses, and is open 7 days a week. Same-day appointments are available, and walk-ins are welcome.
Comprehensive Cancer Treatment
The 33,846 square foot cancer center provides oncology, infusion, chemotherapy, hematology, clinical trials, radiology, imaging services, nutrition, lab, pharmacy, and counseling support, all under one roof in a coordinated care environment. The 22 state-of-the-art general infusion stations and 2 private infusion stations ensure patients are in peaceful surroundings with a multidisciplinary team that works together to provide the most advanced treatments and quality care.
The surgery center includes 6 operating rooms for podiatry, orthopedics, breast surgery, and general surgeries.
A wide array of specialty services includes breast imaging, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, ob-gyn, occupational health, orthopedics, physical therapy, podiatry, pulmonary studies, rehabilitation services, rheumatology, and urology. These are in addition to other features including health education, laboratory, and X-ray.
“Kaiser Permanente strives to provide high-quality, affordable health care to our members and the communities we serve,” said Kenneth Grullon, MD, physician-in-chief for Kaiser Permanente’s Diablo Area. “Our compassionate and patient-care focused physicians, nurses, and care team members are eager to welcome all of our members to this new site.”
