Dominique Joyon Strong

I was attracted to KP LAUNCH because of the principles and values that Kaiser Permanente lives out every day: serving and protecting the community regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or background. I was an intern in the Risk and Compliance Department for the Northern California Region. I am proud to say that I had the opportunity to work with Kaiser Permanente and give back to the community in that way.

My favorite memory from my Kaiser Permanente experience was when all the interns visited the Garfield Innovation Center. We could see firsthand how technological advances can impact and improve the future of health care facilities.

This experience has increased my interest in working in health care and has shown me how I can use my skills to better the community I live in. My professional and technical skills have been sharpened, and my internship has given me the confidence to be able to go into any interview. I would like to say thank you to Felicia Duncan, KP LAUNCH’s program manager, for giving me this opportunity, as well as everyone I worked with in my internship class and the department where I worked. This experience has truly changed my life. My future plans are to get a full-time position with Kaiser Permanente and go back to school to get a master’s degree and eventually a PhD.
