Caring from the Heart

It takes a rare combination of skill and compassion to be a hospice nurse.

Hospice nurses must be experts at coordinating care, managing symptoms, and keeping patients comfortable as they approach the end of life. They must also work with an open, loving, and wise heart so that they can care for the physical needs of a patient, and take into account emotional and spiritual needs, too.

Today about 200 registered nurses work with 11 Kaiser Permanente hospice programs across Northern California. Watch a short video to see the caring work of 2 RNs from the Kaiser Permanente Oakland Hospice program and the difference they’re making in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
