A Day ON to Help Schools Thrive

Some 1,300 employees and physicians make lives better for school communities on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Across Northern California, some 1,300 Kaiser Permanente employees and physicians rolled up their sleeves on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, for “A Day ON, Not a Day Off.” Organized through the nonprofit group Hands On, many of the region’s 25 volunteer projects were at schools that partner with Kaiser Permanente on the Thriving Schools initiative.

Watch a short video to see volunteers in action at one Oakland elementary school, and the enthusiastic reaction their work received when students, teachers, and staff returned the following day.
